Last week, the Village BID board of directors meeting heard from City Dept. of Public Works about several sequencing scenarios for the reconstruction of State St. Bill Wehrley from DPW outlined several options for reconstructing State St. in the coming years. Most of the timing options discussed are influenced by other factors such as the Zoo interchange, Milwaukee Ave. project, and the Milwaukee County reconstruction of Menomonee River Parkway in 2015. The goal of the meeting was to share the various construction cycle options, provide an overview of the process, and garner feedback on preferred timing.
The consensus of those present is to move forward with a reconstruction of State St. that will be scheduled for 2016 construction season. Some phases of the project may not be completed until 2017 but the bulk of the work will be in 2016. I’ve linked a map of the construction area for your consideration.
We will keep you updated about this significant project as 2015 will be an important year for planning streetscape improvement via the project and working on all the public relations and access planning we will have to do for area businesses during the construction process in 2016.
