Don’t miss the Holiday Tree Lighting and Village Cheer Celebration Friday, Dec. 9th

Enjoy a magical holiday event in Wauwatosa’s Village this Friday, December 9th.  This event, complete with horse-drawn carriage rides, kids crafts, a holiday tree lighting,  Santa and more, is centered at Root Common, located at 1411 Wauwatosa Avenue. Thanks to our generous sponsor Waterstone Bank!

5:45 pm Tree Lighting with songs led by McKinley School Chorus, Santa, music from Sophia’s Heart Foundation and more at Root Common

6:30-8:00  Kids crafts, treats and carriage rides (throughout the Village)

We are accepting food and cash donations at Friday’s event so PLEASE bring down your contribution for for Tosa Cares. Wondering what to donate? Here’s what Tosa Cares has shared with us as the top requests: peanut butter, jelly, tuna, soup, cereal, canned fruits (not in heavy syrup), and vegetables, rice, pasta, and macaroni and cheese. They also look for the following personal care items: soap (bar or pump), toothpaste, tooth brushes, shampoo, toilet tissue.

Special Activities

  • Take a horse-drawn carriage ride through the Village, compliments of Waterstone Bank and the Village BID. Donations to Tosa Cares are appreciated to enjoy your FREE rides on the carriage!
  • Baskin-Robbins and YoMama’s will have children’s craft, cookies and hot chocolate.
  • Visit with Santa  at Paulina’s following the Tree Lighting Ceremony
  • Get your photo taken and a treat at the Party Room.
  • Enjoy hot beverages for sale from Cafe Hollander
  • Le Rêve Patisserie & Café joins in outside their restaurant on 7610 Harwood Avenue selling holiday cookies, hot cocoa, and coffee.
  • While you’re here, visit the businesses participating in Village Cheer celebration to take advantage of special holiday promotions and enter to win one of many holiday gift giveaways!

The Wauwatosa Village Business Improvement District is proud to host our signature Holiday Season events for 2016!

Tuesday, Dec. 6th

Canadian Pacific Holiday Train – All Aboard for Tosa Cares

4:45 – 5:30 PM

The CP Holiday Train makes its second visit to the Wauwatosa Village at the railroad track crossing on Harwood Ave. (near Little Red Store Historical Society). The event is open to the public and all are welcome to come down and see the one of a kind train decorations, music show by popular Canadian recording artists, Santa, and more!

The event is a benefit for Tosa Cares, our local food pantry, and we urge all attendees to bring their non-perishable food donation or cash to the event. There will be many collection points throughout the event and look for our local Girl Scout troops and their decorated shopping carts to drop your donation. Then, enjoy the train and the show!

We will have a short program of music and announcements starting at 4 PM featuring Kathy Mykleby from WISN TV 12 and the Jackson Park Jazz Band for some swinging holiday tunes!

Parking will be limited for the event but here are a few ideas if you are looking to enjoy the show:

All will require some walking to get to the event but as our attendees from last year can assure you, it’s well worth it!

Don’t forget our Village Cheer Holiday Tree Lighting party on Friday, December 9th from 5:45 PM to 9:00 PM (Tree lighting at 6:00 PM) and featuring Horse carriage rides from 6:30 PM to 9 PM through the Village!
