The Village of Wauwatosa Business Improvement District (B.I.D.) announced last week it hired consulting firm fd2s to develop a signature, wayfinding signage program for the Village’s commercial district. Fd2s is a Texas-based firm with more than 20 years of experience in developing wayfinding sign programs for municipalities. (http://www.fd2s.com)
The development of a wayfinding signage program is part of an overall master planning effort to attract business and economic activity within the Village and eastern portion of Wauwatosa. The Village of Wauwatosa BID is placing a priority on making it easier for people to navigate the area whether on foot, bike or in a car. A wayfinding sign program will help market the commercial district as well as provide visual gateways into the area.
The Village BID also announced last week it will host two public meetings to seek input from the public on experiences and insights to help people find their way around the Village. Members of the public only need attend one of the following meetings:
Village Wayfinding Signage Public Input Meetings
Input Session #1
Thursday, May 16, 6:30-8:00pm
Fire Station #1 1601 Underwood Ave
Input Session #2
Friday, May 17, 7:30-9:00am
Fire Station #1 1601 Underwood Ave.
By mid-summer, design concepts will be presented and a final plan is expected by end of July. Since 1994, the Village of Wauwatosa Business Improvement District (B.I.D.) has existed with the primary goal of increasing traffic and activity within Wauwatosa’s historic Village sector. The BID also promotes and cultivates the unique image of the Village.
